What is a Sustainable Cities Boot Camp?
Boot Camps are intensive three-day hands-on workshops that focus on long-range integrated planning. Participants use the Sustainable Cities : PLUS Network Planning Cycle, which encompasses international methodologies and frameworks, and applies these to a case study provided by the host city. In this way, participants gain greater awareness of the benefits of integrated long-range planning, understand the strengths of different methodologies used, and develop skills to guide and oversee the application of long-range planning in their community. The host city benefits from high-calibre, applied input from their international peers.
Qualified facilitators and moderators who have direct, hands-on experience with the Boot Camp theme are chosen to bring the best value to the learning experience. Past Boot Camps have included academic professionals, city planners, international consultants and experts in the private sector. They will draw from personal experience and training, flagging potential missteps and outlining strategic components for consideration.
The material is targeted to planners, developers, architects, engineers, sustainability managers, elected officials, and others engaged in long-term integrated planning processes.
