Sustainable Cities International Network |
The Sustainable Cities International Network is a network of cities, towns and regions sharing their experiences, expertise and tools to undertake urban sustainability plans and projects. Sustainable Cities International, based in Vancouver, Canada, is the secretariat of the Network.
Acting as ‘urban laboratories’, Network cities adopt technological and social innovations and then, adapt and implement in their own context – making improvements to the innovation as they proceed. In turn, what they learn will be shared with other members of the Network. This process ensures that good practice is deeply understood, tested, adapted for local conditions and the new knowledge gained is shared widely. This reinforcing pattern of knowledge creation is continually revisited and built upon.
Every two years, Sustainable Cities International Network members gather to share their learning at our Biennial Conferences.
The Network is funded through fees from member cities and grants from CIDA, The Canadian International Development Agency.
